Owl Love You All Year is a project that encourages the expression of free love and ample creative exercise 365 days a year.
Participants send in a hand-crafted valentine any day of the year and in return are mailed a hand made valentine from someone else. It’s really pretty easy and highly satisfactory. We human beings need long standing support, not just during major holidays and events. Have you ever come home to a snowy lonesome apartment just wishing for a warm hand to your back? We can be that to one another with words and art even if we can’t physically be present. Together we can create a story, a fabric: one of compassion, hilarity, and full of honest fears and feelings.
Doing it is simple!
You can use any type and combination of medium or you can stick to something more simple. Back in the first run of this project people sent in all types of items:
Stickers and letters pressed onto old book jackets spelling out soothing messages, raspy little color pencil lines of monsters holding hearts, and signage from the harder of heart. Whichever you choose, realize what the message is that you are sending out. How will your words impact those who receive? How can we open up off the paper after the message is sent, and what will that mean for us?
Open yourself up and see what comes your way.
In order to receive a valentine for the next swap on February 14th submissions must be received by February 9th.
*Send to:
1951 North Francisco Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60647
* Please include a paid-postage envelope for your valentine to be sent in. This helps to keep costs down for us. So remember, if you’re sending something that’s a little bigger you’ll have to up the postage to accommodate.
